Prefilled weekly Wegovy pen, prescribed online
The Wegovy pen delivers a measured weekly dose of semaglutide with no drawing up or measuring. Here is how the pens differ, how to use and store them, and how to get one prescribed.
Free to book. You pay only if you go ahead with treatment.
A licensed U.S. clinician reviews whether you are eligible for Wegovy during a free 5–10 minute phone or video visit.
Each single-dose pen holds one measured dose with a hidden needle, which helps if you are nervous about needles.
Your clinician follows up at each pen-strength change and helps with missed doses, side effects, storage and travel questions.
Wegovy is an FDA-approved semaglutide made by Novo Nordisk. Your prescription goes to a licensed U.S. pharmacy, and brand medication may cost extra.
Tell us about your weight history, conditions and current medicines in a short form.
In 5–10 minutes your clinician decides whether the Wegovy pen is appropriate and which starting strength you need.
If prescribed, a licensed U.S. pharmacy fills your pens. Put them in the refrigerator when they arrive.
Pick a day, choose a site and follow the instructions for use in the carton. Ask your clinician if anything is unclear.
Check-ins decide whether to step up, stay put or adjust, until you reach your maintenance dose.
The pen is for adults, and teens 12 and older, who meet Wegovy's criteria for weight reduction, or adults with heart disease and excess weight.
The hidden needle and automatic delivery make the pen a gentle start for first-time injectors.
One injection on the same day each week suits people who would rather not take a daily tablet.
Every pen is FDA-approved and prefilled, so there is no measuring of units or concentrations.
If you cannot store medicine in a refrigerator, strongly prefer pills or have a history of medullary thyroid cancer or MEN 2, talk through alternatives.

Most people starting Wegovy use the single-dose pen. Each pen holds exactly one weekly dose, already measured, with the needle hidden inside the device. You remove the cap, press the pen against your skin, wait for it to finish and drop the whole pen in a sharps container. There is nothing to dial and no vial to draw from.
As your dose rises, you move to a new pen strength rather than a new technique. Pens come in 0.25, 0.5, 1, 1.7 and 2.4 mg strengths, and a 7.2 mg pen is sold separately as Wegovy HD for some adults on long-term treatment.
Once you are settled at 2.4 mg, your clinician may suggest the Wegovy FlexTouch pen, a multi-dose pen that holds four 2.4 mg doses. It means fewer pens to store, but it must never be shared with anyone, even if the needle is changed.
Always follow the instructions for use that come with your pens, since details can vary between pen types. These basics apply to most people.
Keep unused pens in the refrigerator between 36 and 46 degrees Fahrenheit, with the cap on and away from light. Never freeze a pen, and do not use one that has been frozen.
Pens can be kept at room temperature for a limited time. The carton tells you how long. When flying, carry pens in your hand luggage in their original packaging with your pharmacy label, and use an insulated bag for longer trips.
For Wegovy used for weight or heart-risk reduction, the label says to give a missed dose as soon as possible if your next dose is more than 2 days away. If it is less than 2 days away, skip the missed dose and go back to your usual day. If you miss two or more doses in a row, contact your clinician, because you may need to restart at a lower strength.
The pen carries the same boxed warning as all Wegovy products about thyroid C-cell tumors seen in rodents. Pen-specific safety mostly comes down to correct use and never sharing.

A single-dose pen gives one weekly dose and is then thrown away. The FlexTouch pen holds four 2.4 mg doses and is meant for people already on the maintenance dose. Both contain the same medicine.
Most people feel a quick pinch or nothing at all because the needle is very fine and the dose goes just under the skin. Relaxing the area, rotating sites and following the instructions for use step by step can help.
Use the belly, the front of the thigh or the upper arm. Move to a new spot each week to avoid irritation. Avoid skin that is bruised, tender or scarred.
Do not inject a second pen. Note what happened and contact your clinician or pharmacist, who can tell you what to do next.
Usually yes, as long as there is enough time between doses. Ask your clinician before switching so the gap is not too short.
Pens may be kept at room temperature for a limited time, as stated in the carton and instructions for use. Keep them away from heat and direct sunlight, and throw away any pen that has been frozen or overheated.
Put them in an FDA-cleared sharps container or a sturdy plastic container with a screw-on lid. Follow your local rules for disposal, and never put loose pens in household trash or recycling.
Both contain semaglutide, but they are different products with different doses and approved uses. Ozempic is approved for type 2 diabetes and tops out at 2 mg. Wegovy is approved for weight and heart-risk reduction with a 2.4 mg maintenance dose, and the injection also has accelerated approval for a liver condition called MASH.
Yes. Keep pens in your carry-on with the pharmacy label, since cargo holds can get too cold. An insulated pouch helps on long trips.
Yes. Each strength has its own pen, so your pharmacy fills a new strength as your clinician steps you up.
